ประเทศไทยประกาศลงสมัครสมาชิกคณะมนตรีสิทธิมนุษยชนแห่งสหประชาชาติ วาระปี ค.ศ. ๒๐๒๕-๒๐๒๗ ในฐานะสะพานเชื่อมโลกเพื่อประโยชน์ของทุกคน

เมื่อวันที่ ๒๑ กันยายน ๒๕๖๖ นายปานปรีย์ พหิทธานุกร รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ เป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงานเลี้ยงรับรองเพื่อเปิดตัวการสมัครเป็นสมาชิกคณะมนตรีสิทธิ มนุษยชนแห่งสหประชาชาติ (HRC) ของไทย วาระปี ค.ศ. ๒๐๒๕-๒๐๒๗ โดยมีผู้แทนระดับรัฐมนตรี เอกอัครราชทูต และผู้แทนระดับสูงจากกว่า ๑๐๐ ประเทศเข้าร่วม

รองนายกรัฐมนตรีฯ แสดงความมุ่งมั่นของไทยในการส่งเสริมสิทธิมนุษยชนและค่านิยมประชาธิปไตย ทั้งยังพร้อมให้การสนับสนุนการทำงานของ HRC ภายใต้บริบทโลกที่เปลี่ยนแปลง โดยไทยจะเตรียมรับมือความท้าทายต่าง ๆ ในปัจจุบันเพื่อคนรุ่นหลังด้วย

นอกจากนี้ ยังได้กล่าวถึงภาพรวมผลงานของไทยที่ผ่านมาในฐานะสะพานเชื่อม ส่งเสริมให้ทุกฝ่ายมีการหารือและความร่วมมือต่าง ๆ อย่างสร้างสรรค์ เพื่อให้เกิดบรรยากาศการทำงานที่ดีและมีประสิทธิภาพสำหรับ HRC โดยไทยพร้อมทำงานร่วมกับทุกประเทศและทุกภาคส่วนเพื่อความก้าวหน้าด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนที่จะเป็นประโยชน์กับผู้คนต่อไป

Thailand announces 2025-2027 Human Rights Council Candidature with aim to serve as world’s bridge-builder for common good

On 21 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted the launching reception of Thailand’s candidature to the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) for the term 2025-2027. The event was attended by Ministers, ambassadors and high-level representatives from more than 100 UN Member States.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed Thailand’s commitment to advance human rights and democracy and maximize the impact of the works of the HRC on the ground in the fast changing world with many emerging challenges, which Thailand stands ready to address for future generations.

He also highlighted Thailand’s track record as a bridge-builder and a constructive partner which would help bring about synergies and the needed solidarity to the Council and expressed Thailand’s readiness to work with all countries and partners for the common good.
