นายกรัฐมนตรีพบหารือเลขาธิการสหประชาชาติ
เมื่อวันที่ ๒๑ กันยายน ๒๕๖๖ นายเศรษฐา ทวีสิน นายกรัฐมนตรี พบหารือกับนายอันโตนิอู กุแตเรช เลขาธิการสหประชาชาติ ในห้วงการประชุมสมัชชาสหประชาชาติ สมัยสามัญ ครั้งที่ ๗๘ (UNGA78 High- level week) โดยนับเป็นการพบหารืออย่างเป็นทางการครั้งแรกของทั้งสอง
นายกรัฐมนตรีกล่าวถึงนโยบายที่รัฐบาลชุดใหม่ให้ความสำคัญซึ่งสอดคล้องกับวาระการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน ค.ศ. ๒๐๓๐ (2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development) พร้อมย้ำความมุ่งมั่นของไทยที่จะส่งเสริมความร่วมมือกับสหประชาชาติในทุกมิติ และข้อริเริ่มในเรื่องต่าง ๆ ของเลขาธิการสหประชาชาติ โดยเฉพาะที่เกี่ยวกับการเร่งขับเคลื่อนการบรรลุเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน (SDGs) และการรับมือกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ รวมทั้งได้แสดงความหวังที่จะเห็นคนไทยดำรงตำแหน่งระดับสูงในสหประชาชาติมากขึ้น
ในโอกาสนี้ เลขาธิการสหประชาชาติแสดงความยินดีกับนายกรัฐมนตรีเนื่องในโอกาสเข้ารับตำแหน่ง พร้อมชื่นชมความร่วมมือที่เน่นแฟ้นระหว่างไทยกับสหประชาชาติ และบทบาทแข็งขันของไทยในฐานะสถานที่ตั้งของหลายหน่วยงานสหประชาชาติในภูมิภาค
Prime Minister of meets with UN Secretary-General
On 21 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister, had a bilateral talk with H.E. Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the UN, during the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly. This was the first time both sides met officially after Prime Minister assumed his role.
Prime Minister outlined the priorities of the new government, which are in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He also reiterated Thailand’s commitment to strengthen Thailand-UN cooperation in all dimensions and support for the Secretary-General’s initiatives, particularly on SDGs acceleration and climate action. He also expressed his wish to see more Thai nationals in senior positions at the UN.
The Secretary-General congratulated Prime Minister for his office assumption while commending the excellent partnership between Thailand and the UN as well as Thailand’s active role as host country of many UN agencies in the region.
