เมื่อวันที่ 16 ม.ค. 2567 กรมองค์การระหว่างประเทศร่วมกับกรมคุ้มครองสิทธิและเสรีภาพ จัดการประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการเพื่อรวบรวมข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมสำหรับการจัดทำร่างรายงานประเทศตามกลไก Universal Periodic Review (UPR) รอบกลางรอบ (Mid-term Report) (ภาคใต้) ณ โรงแรมเซ็นทารา อ.หาดใหญ่ จ.สงขลา

              การประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการดังกล่าวมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อให้ความรู้เกี่ยวกับกระบวนการของกลไก UPR ข้อเสนอแนะที่ไทยได้รับจากประเทศสมาชิกสหประชาชาติ รวมถึงเพื่อรวบรวมข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมจากส่วนราชการผู้ปฏิบัติในภาคใต้เกี่ยวกับการดำเนินการ ความคืบหน้า และความท้าทายในการดำเนินการตามข้อเสนอแนะที่ไทยได้ตอบรับ รวมถึงคำมั่นโดยสมัครใจในกระบวนการ UPR เพื่อจัดทำรายงานของประเทศไทยรอบกลางรอบ ภายใต้กลไก UPR รอบที่ 3 ที่มีกำหนดส่งในช่วงต้นปี 2567

              ในโอกาสดังกล่าว นางพิมพิดา รวิรัฐ ธนรัช นักการทูตชำนาญการ (ที่ปรึกษา) กองการสังคม กรมองค์การระหว่างประเทศได้ร่วมเป็นวิทยากร โดยการประชุมดังกล่าวมีผู้แทนส่วนราชการในพื้นที่เข้าร่วมประมาณ 70 คน

              ทั้งนี้ ก่อนหน้านี้ กรมองค์การระหว่างประเทศและกรมคุ้มครองสิทธิและเสรีภาพจัดการประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการในเรื่องเดียวกันที่จังหวัดเชียงราย และหลังจากนี้ มีกำหนดจะจัดการประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการเพิ่มเติมในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ภาคตะวันตก และกรุงเทพฯ ด้วย

            On 16 January 2024, the Department of International Organizations and the Rights and Liberty Protection Department co-hosted the workshop in order to gather information for Thailand’s mid-term report under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) (for the southern region) at Centara Hotel, Hat Yai, Songkla province.

           The workshop aims to raise awareness on the UPR process and recommendations Thailand received from UN Member States as well as exchanging views on progress made and challenges faced by local authorities in the implementation of accepted UPR recommendations. The information and comment’s received will be used for Thailand’s UPR mid-term report of which its submission is due at the beginning of 2024.

           Pimpida Ravirat Thanarat, Counselor, Social Division, spoke at the meeting as one of the panelists , in which 70 representatives from various local government agencies participated and shared their views.

           Earlier in December 2023, the Department of International Organizations and the Rights and Liberty Department co-hosted similar workshop for the Northern region in Chiang Rai province. The two Departments will also be organizing the workshop in the North-East and the West of Thailand as well as Bangkok.
