เมื่อวันที่ 18 ตุลาคม 2567 นางสาวพินทุ์สุดา ชัยนาม อธิบดีกรมองค์การระหว่างประเทศให้การต้อนรับ ดร. จูลิตตา โอนาบันโจ ผู้อำนวยการกองทุนประชากรแห่งสหประชาชาติ (United Nations Population Fund: UNFPA) ประจำประเทศไทย และผู้แทน UNFPA ประจำมาเลเซีย ในโอกาสที่ผู้อำนวยการ UNFPA เข้ารับหน้าที่

ในโอกาสนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือแนวทางการส่งเสริมและต่อยอดความร่วมมือด้านประชากรและการพัฒนา การส่งเสริมสุขภาพทางเพศและอนามัยเจริญพันธุ์ และการส่งเสริมอนามัยแม่และเด็ก รวมถึงการพัฒนาชีวิตในทุกช่วงวัย โดย ดร. โอนาบันโจได้กล่าวชื่นชมความมุ่งมั่นของไทยในการดำเนินการตามแผนปฏิบัติการจากการประชุมนานาชาติว่าด้วยประชากรและการพัฒนา (International Conference on Population and Development: ICPD) และบทบาทเด่นของไทยในการส่งเสริมการเข้าถึงหลักประกันสุขภาพถ้วนหน้า พร้อมย้ำว่า UNFPA จะเป็นหุ้นส่วนกับไทยเพื่อให้บรรลุภารกิจสามด้านที่ UNFPA ให้ความสำคัญ ได้แก่ การยุติการเสียชีวิตของมารดาจากสาเหตุที่ป้องกันได้ การเข้าถึงบริการการวางแผนครอบครัว และการยุติความรุนแรงด้วยเหตุแห่งเพศ

On 18 October 2024, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, welcomed Dr. Julitta Onabanjo on the occasion of her assumption of duty as the new United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Representative for Malaysia and Country Director for Thailand. 

On this occasion, both sides discussed ways to enhance Thailand-UNFPA cooperation on population and development, the promotion of sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, and the well-being of the population throughout the lifecycle. Dr. Onabanjo also commended Thailand’s commitment to the ICPD Programme of Action and active role in enhancing accessibility to the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) scheme. She reaffirmed UNFPA’s commitment to continue working closely with Thailand to achieve three key priorities, namely ending preventable maternal deaths, ensuring access to family planning services, and eliminating gender-based violence
