สหประชาชาติได้กำหนดให้วันที่ 17 มิถุนายนของทุกปีเป็นวัน “วันทะเลทรายและภัยแล้งโลก” เพื่อสร้างความตระหนักเกี่ยวกับการแปรสภาพเป็นทะเลทราย ความเสื่อมโทรมของที่ดินและภัยแล้ง ที่รุนแรงขึ้นในปัจจุบัน ให้สอดคล้องตามอนุสัญญาการต่อต้านการแปรสภาพเป็นทะเลทราย (United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification: UNCCD) ที่ไทยได้ร่วมเป็นสมาชิกด้วย
โดยในปี 2567 จะให้ความสำคัญกับความร่วมมือของคนรุ่นปัจจุบันและอนาคตเพื่อร่วมหยุดยั้งและฟื้นฟูความเสื่อมโทรมของที่ดิน ภายใต้พันธกิจร่วมกันของโลกคือ การฟื้นฟูพื้นที่เสื่อมโทรม 6.25 พันล้านไร่ภายในปี 2573 ร่วมกันตระหนักในคุณค่าของที่ดินของเราระดมทรัพยากรจากทุกภาคส่วนเพื่อดูแลรักษาที่ดิน เพื่อลดพื้นที่ทะเลทรายและความแห้งแล้ง สร้างพื้นที่อยู่อาศัยอันยั่งยืนแก่เราและคนรุ่นต่อไป

The United Nations proclaimed June 17 as “Desertification and Drought Day” to raise awareness about the more severe cases of desertification, land degradation, and drought in order to comply with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) that Thailand has joined as a member.
In 2024, the mission of degraded land restoration will be focused on the cooperation of the present and future generations under the common mission of the world, which is the restoration of 1 billion hectares of degraded land by 2030.
Let’s appreciate the value of our lands and mobilize resources from all sectors to preserve them to reduce desertification and drought and create sustainable living spaces for us and the future generation.
