เมื่อวันที่ 18 มิถุนายน 2568 นายมาริษ เสงี่ยมพงษ์ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้พบหารือกับนางอาร์มิดา ซัลเซียะฮ์ อาลิสจะฮ์บานา รองเลขาธิการสหประชาชาติและเลขาธิการบริหารคณะกรรมาธิการเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งสหประชาชาติสำหรับเอเชียและแปซิฟิก ระหว่างอาหารกลางวันที่รองเลขาธิการสหประชาชาติเป็นเจ้าภาพ ณ ศูนย์การประชุมสหประชาชาติ กรุงเทพฯ
ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือเกี่ยวกับการดำเนินงานของ ESCAP และหน่วยงานภายใต้ระบบสหประชาชาติ โดยเฉพาะในมิติของการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการดำเนินงาน และการส่งเสริมบทบาทสหประชาชาติให้เข้มแข็งและสอดคล้องกับบริบทโลกปัจจุบันมากยิ่งขึ้น เพื่อรับมือกับสถานการณ์ความท้าทายต่าง ๆ ในปัจจุบัน หลังจากนั้น เลขาธิการบริหารเอสแคปได้นำรัฐมนตรีฯ เดินเยี่ยมชมภายในศูนย์การประชุมสหประชาชาติ และอาคารสำนักเลขาธิการเอสแคป รวมถึงโถงรับรองวิเทศ (Vithes Lounge) และโถงรับรองเอเชีย-แปซิฟิก (Asia-Pacific Lounge) ซึ่งรัฐบาลไทยเป็นผู้สนับสนุนงบประมาณในการปรับปรุงพื้นที่ ซึ่งโถงรับรองดังกล่าวเปิดให้เจ้าหน้าที่ของสหประชาชาติและบุคคลทั่วไปที่มาเข้าร่วมการประชุมหรือกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ที่ศูนย์การประชุมสหประชาชาติ (UN Conference Centre) สามารถใช้บริการได้ เพื่อเป็นพื้นที่แห่งการหารือเพื่อส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่างกันต่อไป
On 18 June 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a luncheon hosted by Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC), Bangkok.
Both sides discussed the overall operations of ESCAP and other UN agencies based in Thailand, particularly in terms of enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening the role and relevance of the UN in addressing evolving global challenges. Following the luncheon, the Executive Secretary invited the Foreign Minister to tour the UNCC and the ESCAP Secretariat Building, including the Vithes and the Asia-Pacific Lounges, financially supported by the Royal Thai Government for their renovation. The lounges are open for use by the UN staff and visitors attending meetings and events at the UNCC. They serve as spaces for networking and discussions to foster further cooperation among all parties.
