เมื่อวันที่ 30 ตุลาคม 2568 นางจุฬามณี ชาติสุวรรณ ที่ปรึกษารัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้พบหารือกับนายโอมาร์ อับดิ รองผู้อำนวยการบริหาร กองทุนเพื่อเด็กแห่งสหประชาชาติ (United Nations Children’s Fund: UNICEF) (ยูนิเซฟ) โดยมีนางจูน คุนูกิ ผู้อำนวยการยูนิเซฟประจำภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกและแปซิฟิกเข้าร่วม ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้แลกเปลี่ยนความเห็นเกี่ยวกับความร่วมมือระหว่างรัฐบาลไทยและยูนิเซฟในการส่งเสริมสิทธิและการพัฒนาเด็ก การตั้งศูนย์ความเป็นเลิศด้านเด็กและความยืดหยุ่นต่อสภาพภูมิอากาศที่กรุงเทพฯ เพื่อรับมือกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในประเด็นท้าทายที่เร่งด่วนที่สุดในปัจจุบัน รวมถึงการปรับโครงสร้างสำนักงานภูมิภาคเอเชีย-แปซิฟิกของยูนิเซฟในประเทศไทย ซึ่งเป็นการรวมสำนักงานภูมิภาคที่ครอบคลุมการทำงานใน ๓๖ ประเทศ ที่ดำเนินการโดยสำนักงานระดับประเทศของยูนิเซฟ ๒๒ แห่ง
ในโอกาสนี้ ที่ปรึกษารัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้แสดงความยินดีกับการก่อตั้งศูนย์ความเป็นเลิศฯ และย้ำความมุ่งมั่นของไทยในการคุ้มครองเด็กและเยาวชนรุ่นหลังจากผลกระทบของการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศที่ทำให้เกิดเหตุการณ์สภาพอากาศรุนแรงในความถี่และมีความรุนแรงที่มากขึ้นโดยเฉพาะในภูมิภาคเอเชีย-แปซิฟิก
On 30 October 2025, Ms. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Mr. Omar Abdi, Deputy Executive Director for Programmes of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Ms. June Kunugi, UNICEF Regional Director for East Asia and the Pacific, was also present at the meeting. Both sides exchanged views on cooperation between Thailand and UNICEF on children’s rights and child development, the launch of UNICEF Centre of Excellence on Children and Climate Resilience in Bangkok to address the most urgent challenges of our time, and the consolidated Asia-Pacific Office (APRO) of UNICEF in Thailand, covering 36 countries, through oversight of 22 UNICEF country offices.
On this occasion, the Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulates the establishment of the UNICEF Centre of Excellence to Thailand. The Advisor reaffirms Thailand’s commitment to protect and promote children and younger generations from the risks and impacts of climate change, which has led to more frequent and severe extreme weather events, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
