ประเทศไทยจัดงานเลี้ยงรับรองแก่คณะผู้แทนถาวรประจำสหประชาชาติของประเทศต่าง ๆ ณ นครเจนีวา ในช่วงการประชุมระดับสูงของคณะมนตรีสิทธิมนุษยชนแห่งสหประชาชาติ (Human Rights Council: HRC) สมัยที่ ๕๕ เพื่อรณรงค์การสมัครเป็นสมาชิกคณะมนตรีฯ วาระปี ค.ศ. ๒๐๒๕-๒๐๒๗ ของไทย ณ สำนักงานสหประชาชาติ นครเจนีวา โดยมีผู้แทนระดับรัฐมนตรีและ เอกอัครราชทูตผู้แทนถาวร รวมถึงเจ้าหน้าที่ด้านสิทธิมนุษชนจากกว่า ๑๐๐ ประเทศเข้าร่วม

                ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีฯ ย้ำความมุ่งมั่นของไทยในการส่งเสริมให้การทำงานของ HRC มีประสิทธิภาพ น่าเชื่อถือ และเกิดประโยชน์สูงสุดต่อประชาชน ซึ่งรวมถึงการส่งเสริมการหารือ และความร่วมมือระหว่างฝ่ายต่าง ๆ อย่างสร้างสรรค์ โดยไทยพร้อมทำงานร่วมกับทุกประเทศและทุกภาคส่วนเพื่อขับเคลื่อนให้เกิดความก้าวหน้าด้านสิทธิมนุษยชน และการรับมือกับความท้าทายต่าง ๆ ในปัจจุบันและเพื่อประโยชน์ของคนรุ่นหลัง

                นอกจากนี้ ในวันเดียวกัน ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีฯ ได้พบหารือทวิภาคีกับ (๑) Lord Tariq Ahmad ผู้แทนพิเศษของนายกรัฐมนตรีว่าด้วยการป้องกันความรุนแรงทางเพศในความขัดแย้งและรัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศและการพัฒนา ฝ่ายกิจการตะวันออกกลาง แอฟริกาเหนือ เอเชียใต้ องค์การสหประชาชาติและเครือจักรภพ สหราชอาณาจักร (๒) นาย Radek Rubeš ปลัดกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสาธารณรัฐเช็ก (๓) นาย Christopher Grama เอกอัครราชทูต ผู้แทนถาวรมอลตา ณ นครเจนีวา และ (๔) นาย Adrian Lubonja รองผู้แทนถาวรแอลเบเนีย ณ นครเจนีวา โดยได้ขอรับการสนับสนุนการสมัคร HRC ของไทย และแลกเปลี่ยนทัศนะในประเด็นระหว่างประเทศที่มีความสนใจร่วมกัน

                Thailand hosted a reception in Geneva to campaign for its candidature to the Human Rights Council (HRC) for the term 2025-2027

                On 28 February 2024, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs hosted the reception at the United Nations Office in Geneva, during the High-Level Segment of the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council (HRC), on Thailand's candidature to the HRC for the term 2025-2027. The reception was attended by Ministers, Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives as well as human rights experts from more than 100 countries.

                 Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to contribute to the work of the HRC in ensuring its effectiveness and credibility with a view to maximizing the impact of HRC's work on people's lives. He also highlighted Thailand's approach in enhancing dialogue and constructive engagement as well as reiterated the readiness to work with all countries and stakeholders to advance human rights and address challenges for the benefit of future generations.

                 On the same day, the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs also had bilateral meetings with (1) H.E. Lord Tariq Ahmad, Special Representative for Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict and Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, United Nations and the Commonwealth, UK (2) H.E. Mr. Radek Rubeš, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czechia (3) H.E. Mr. Christopher Grima, ambassador and permanent representative of Malta to the United Nations in Geneva and (4) Mr. Adrian, deputy permanent representative of Albania to the United Nations in Geneva, to request support for the candidature of Thailand for the HRC and exchanged views on international issues of mutual interest.
