On 21 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the Foreign Policy and Global Health (FPGH) Initiative Foreign Minister's Meeting hosted by South Africa during the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly.

            In his remarks, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs highlighted the mutually reinforcing relationship between foreign policy and health, and shared with the delegates his reflections on the way forward for the FPGH. To become more relevant and achieve concrete outcomes, explained the Vice Minister, it would be essential for the Group to explore the interplay between foreign policy and health so as to address interlocking challenges, drive health agenda through the Group, including finalizing the Pandemic Treaty, and engage creatively with those outside the Group. The Meeting also adopted a Joint Ministerial Statement to reiterate the Group's commitment to international health security.
