เมื่อวันที่ ๓๐ พ.ค. ๒๕๖๖ นางเอกสิริ ปิณฑะรุจิ อธิบดีกรมองค์การระหว่างประเทศได้เข้าร่วมงานแถลงข่าวเปิดตัวเทศกาลภาพยนตร์ผู้ลี้ภัย ครั้งที่ ๑๒ ที่จัดโดยสำนักงานข้าหลวงใหญ่ผู้ลี้ภัยแห่งสหประชาชาติ (UNHCR) ประจำประเทศไทย ระหว่างวันที่ ๑๖-๒๐ มิถุนายน ๒๕๖๖ ที่ ควอเทียร์ ซิเนอาร์ต ศูนย์การค้า ดิเอ็มควอเทียร์ เพื่อรำลึกถึงวันผู้ลี้ภัยโลก (วันที่ ๑๖ มิถุนายนของทุกปี)

ในโอกาสนี้ นางเอกสิริฯ  กล่าวว่า ไทยได้ให้ความร่วมมือกับ UNHCR ประชาคมระหว่างประเทศ และองค์การระหว่างประเทศอื่น ๆ ในการให้การดูแลผู้หนีภัยจากประเทศต่าง ๆ มากว่า ๔๐ ปี (แม้ไทยไม่ได้เป็นภาคีอนุสัญญาผู้ลี้ภัย ค.ศ. ๑๙๕๑) และเห็นพ้องกับคำขวัญของงานในปีนี้ (“ความหวังยามไกลบ้าน”) ว่า การให้ความช่วยเหลือและคุ้มครองแก่ผู้ลี้ภัยนั้น นอกจากการคุ้มครองทางกายภาพแล้ว ควรให้พวกเขามีความหวังในการมีชีวิตด้วย โดยการเปิดให้เข้าถึงโอกาสที่จะพัฒนาและใช้ศักยภาพของตนอย่างเต็มที่ ซึ่งจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อทั้งตัวผู้ลี้ภัยเองและสังคมที่อาศัยอยู่.

Director-General of Department of International Organizations delivered a remark at the Press Conference of the 12^th Refugee Film Festival.

On 31 May 2023, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Director-General of Department of International Organizations, joined the press conference of the 12^th Refugee Film Festival, organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Thailand Office, from 16-20 June 2023, at Quartier CineArt, EmQuartier department store, to celebrate the World Refugee Day on 16 June.

In her remarks, Mrs. Pintaruchi stated that Thailand has been working closely with UNHCR, donor countries and other organizations, to take care of displaced persons from neighbouring countries and beyond for more than 4 decades, despite not being a state party to the 1951 UN Refugee Convention. In concurrence with the tagline for World Refugee Day 2023: “Hope away from home”, Mrs. Pintaruchi said that, aside from providing physical support and protection, it is also important to a provide “hope” through the provision of opportunities, which will enable refugees to realize their full potential and contribute to economic and social development of the host countries.
