เมื่อวันที่ ๒๒ เมษายน ๒๕๖๗ นายเศรษฐา ทวีสิน นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้กล่าวถ้อยแถลงในช่วงพิธีเปิดการประชุมประจำปี สมัยที่ ๘๐ (80th Session of the Commission: CS80) ของคณะกรรมาธิการเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งสหประชาชาติสำหรับเอเชียและแปซิฟิก (เอสแคป) ซึ่งจัดขึ้นภายใต้หัวข้อ “Leveraging digital innovation for sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific” โดยได้ย้ำวิสัยทัศน์ “Ignite Thailand” ซึ่งส่งเสริมการเปลี่ยนผ่านทางดิจิทัลของไทยไปสู่เศรษฐกิจและระบบการเงินดิจิทัล และความสำคัญของการป้องกันความเสี่ยงที่จะเกิดขึ้นจากการเปลี่ยนผ่านด้านดิจิทัล เช่น อาชญากรรมทางไซเบอร์ โดยทุกประเทศต้องร่วมมือกันเพื่อให้การเปลี่ยนผ่านนั้นเป็นไปอย่างปลอดภัย เป็นธรรม และเป็นประโยชน์กับประชาชนในภูมิภาค ในโอกาสนี้ นายรัศม์ ชาลีจันทร์ ที่ปรึกษารัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้เป็นผู้แทนไทยเข้าร่วมงานเลี้ยงอาหารกลางวันเพื่อเป็นเกียรติแก่ผู้แทนระดับสูงที่เข้าร่วมการประชุมด้วยเช่นกัน โดยมีนางอาร์มิดา ซัลเซียะฮ์ อาลิสจะฮ์บานา เลขาธิการบริหารเอสแคป ได้เป็นเจ้าภาพ 

นอกจากนี้ หน่วยงานไทยที่เกี่ยวข้องได้ร่วมจัดแสดงบูธในนิทรรศการนวัตกรรมดิจิทัลเพื่อนำเสนอแนวปฏิบัติที่ดีของไทย และแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์การใช้เทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมในการดำเนินงาน รวมถึงสร้างเครือข่าย ได้แก่ (๑) กรมอนามัย กระทรวงสาธารณสุข นำเสนอนิทรรศการสมุดสุขภาพ “Health Book” ซึ่งเป็นแอปพลิเคชันเพื่อส่งเสริมการเข้าถึงข้อมูลสุขภาพและบริการสุขภาพ (๒) สำนักงานส่งเสริมเศรษฐกิจดิจิทัล (depa) กระทรวงดิจิทัลเพื่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคม นำเสนอนิทรรศการ “AI for Better Life” การตรวจคัดกรองมะเร็งปอดโดยใช้เทคโนโลยี AI และ (๓) สำนักงานพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีอวกาศและภูมิสารสนเทศ (GISTDA) กระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัย และนวัตกรรมนำเสนอนิทรรศการเกี่ยวกับเทคโนโลยีอวกาศที่มีส่วนสำคัญต่อการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน โดยได้รับความสนใจจากผู้เข้าร่วมการประชุมตลอดทั้งสัปดาห์ ในช่วงท้ายของการประชุมฯ ที่ประชุมฯ รับรองข้อมติและข้อตัดสินใจจำนวน ๕ ฉบับ ซึ่งรวมถึงข้อตัดสินใจให้จัดการประชุมประจำปี สมัยที่ ๘๑ ระหว่างวันที่ ๒๑–๒๕ เมษายน ๒๕๖๘ ณ ศูนย์ประชุมสหประชาชาติ กรุงเทพฯ ภายใต้หัวข้อหลัก “Regional cooperation for resilient and sustainable urban development in Asia and the Pacific” ซึ่งจะเป็นโอกาสให้ประเทศสมาชิกหารือเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการพัฒนาเมืองให้มีความยืดหยุ่นและสอดคล้องกับการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน

On 22 April 2024, H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister, delivered a keynote speech during the opening ceremony of the 80th session of the ESCAP Commission (CS80) held under the theme “Leveraging digital innovation for sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific”. In his remarks, Prime Minister emphasized the Ignite Thailand” initiative in promoting Thailand's digital transition to a digital economy and financial system, and the importance of preventing risks arising from digital transformation, such as cybercrime. He also stressed on the importance of international cooperation to ensure a safe, equitable, and beneficial digital transition to all people in the region.  Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana,Executive Secretary of ESCAP hosted a luncheon for high-level delegates. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Advisor to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, represented Thailand at the event.

In addition, relevant Thai agencies participated in the “Digital Innovation Fair” to present Thailand good practices and exchange experiences on technology use and innovation and to enhance network as follows: (1) the Ministry of Public Health with the "Health Book" exhibition, which is an application to promote access to health data and services; (2) the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, presenting the "AI for Better Life" exhibition, which offers lung cancer screening using AI technology; and (3) the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, showcasing space technology for sustainable development. All three exhibitions attracted wide interest from conference participants throughout the week. The 80th Commission Session adopted five resolutions and decisions on 26 April 2024, including the decision to hold the 81st Commission Session during 21–25 April 2025 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok under the theme “Regional cooperation for resilient and sustainable urban development in Asia and the Pacific.”, which will provide the opportunity for member countries to discuss approaches to developing resilient and sustainable cities.
