เมื่อวันที่ 2 มิถุนายน 2569 นางสาวแคทรียา ปทุมรส รองอธิบดีกรมองค์การระหว่างประเทศ พบหารือกับนาย Patrick Canagasingham ผู้อำนวยการกองโครงการระดับภูมิภาคของโครงการตั้งถิ่นฐานมนุษย์แห่งสหประชาชาติ (United Nations Human Settlements Programme: UN-Habitat) เนื่องในโอกาสเยือนประเทศไทย
รองอธิบดีฯ ย้ำความพร้อมของไทยในการร่วมมือกับ UN-Habitat เพื่อขับเคลื่อนการพัฒนาเมือง ส่งเสริมบทบาทของไทยในฐานะหุ้นส่วนเพื่อการพัฒนา และการเป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้ด้านการพัฒนาเมืองและที่อยู่อาศัยอย่างยั่งยืนในภูมิภาคและในกลุ่มประเทศกำลังพัฒนา ขณะที่ทั้งสองฝ่ายแลกเปลี่ยนความเห็นเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านที่อยู่อาศัย การพัฒนาเมืองอย่างยั่งยืน และการขับเคลื่อนเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนในระดับพื้นที่ระหว่างไทยกับ UN-Habitat โดยผู้อำนวยการกองโครงการระดับภูมิภาคของ UN-Habitat ชื่นชมบทบาทของไทยในฐานะหุ้นส่วนเชิงยุทธศาสตร์ที่สำคัญในภูมิภาคเอเชียและแปซิฟิก และเห็นว่า ไทยมีประสบการณ์เชิงรูปธรรมที่สามารถแบ่งปันและเป็นต้นแบบแก่ประเทศกำลังพัฒนาอื่น ๆ ได้ โดยเฉพาะโครงการบ้านมั่นคงและแนวทางการพัฒนาที่อยู่อาศัยโดยชุมชนเป็นศูนย์กลาง ซึ่งได้รับความสนใจอย่างมากในช่วงการประชุม World Urban Forum ครั้งที่ 13 ซึ่งจัดขึ้นเมื่อเดือนพฤษภาคม 2569 ณ กรุงบากู สาธารณรัฐอาเซอร์ไบจาน
ทั้งสองฝ่ายยังหารือโอกาสในการขยายความร่วมมือผ่านกลไกความร่วมมือเพื่อการพัฒนาของไทย รวมถึงความร่วมมือใต้ - ใต้และไตรภาคี เพื่อถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้และแนวปฏิบัติที่ดีของไทยให้แก่ประเทศอื่น ๆ
On 2 June 2026, Ms. Cataleya Phatoomros, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Mr. Patrick Canagasingham, Director of the Regional Programmes Division of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), on the occasion of his working visit to Thailand.
The Deputy Director-General reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to work with UN-Habitat to drive forward urban development, strengthen Thailand’s role as a development partner and a knowledge hub for sustainable urban and housing development in the region and among developing countries. Both sides exchanged views on ways to strengthen cooperation on housing, sustainable urban development and localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) between Thailand and UN-Habitat. The Director highlighted Thailand’s role as a strategic partner in the Asia-Pacific region, noting that Thailand’s concrete experiences in community-centred housing development, particularly the Baan Mankong Programme, could be shared with other developing countries and serve as useful examples. The Programme drew significant interest at the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum, held in May 2026 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Both sides also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation through Thailand’s development cooperation mechanisms, including South-South and triangular cooperation, to share Thailand’s knowledge and good practices with other countries.
